Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a 2017 American superhero film directed by James Gunn and is a sequel to the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy. The film continues the story of the Guardians, a ragtag group of unlikely heroes who must work together to save the galaxy from powerful threats.

The story picks up with the Guardians, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel), as they are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their valuable batteries from an inter-dimensional monster. However, the Guardians soon find themselves on the run after Rocket steals some of the batteries and the Sovereign, led by Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), declares them enemies of the state.

During their escape, they come across Ego (Kurt Russell), who claims to be Star-Lord's father. Ego reveals that he is a god-like being and takes the Guardians to his planet where he tells them he wants to help them save the galaxy. However, as they spend time with Ego, they discover that he has a sinister plan to use his powers to destroy the galaxy and only Star-Lord and his team can stop him.

Meanwhile, Gamora's sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) arrives on the planet in pursuit of Gamora and the two sisters confront each other, revealing their past and the reasons for their rivalry.

In the end, the Guardians come together to stop Ego and save the galaxy, with the help of new allies, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Yondu (Michael Rooker). However, the battle leads to the sacrifice of one of the Guardians and the team is left to mourn their loss.
